Great Food and Value at "Up North" Italian

This restaurant is in my top five. The food was homemade flavorful goodness. Some of the best Italian I’ve had in my lifetime. Service was impeccable and owner came by to say hello and made us reservations for a larger group in July. We can’t wait to be back and bring our guests. Thank you for an excellent experience âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸

Every meal I've had here has been excellent!

Arrived for a 5:30 reservation at 5:20 thinking we could sit down and have a drink .The door was locked .Waited a few minutes then sat in the car until 5:30. Still locked. Waited outside w/another couple until the door opened @ 5:40. Sat down and waitress came over and took our drink order. The martinis arrived w/1 olive in each and not on a toothpick. Very pushy to take our order. Had to ask if there were specials. Food came and my lasagna was margial at best. Both our dishes were under the broiler too long. Have been here many times .Very disappointed. Will not be going back any time soon.

Best restaurant in Michigan. And awesome staff.

This has always been our favorite restaurant in the great county of Leelanau. The food is fantastic, the service is just right and the summertime atmosphere is casual and gregarious. Plan ahead, as it’s often hard to get a reservation.

Sitting here reminiscing about the best food we’ve ever eaten and my family’s #1 all time experience is Trattoria Funistrada. A Michelin 4 star in our book. Strongly recommend!

Had the blackened steak with balsamic reduction and a Cesar salad, both were very good. The service was excellent. The food delicious. It did get a bit loud as the house filled up for the evening's dinner rush, but overall the atmosphere and conversation weren't hindered. Would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a delicious meal. Only real drawback was that the food was pretty pricey, but it was still worth the visit.

Cozy and time honored but don’t expect a culinary experience beyond fair/good.

Glorious local pasta place near Glen Arbor. My partner and I go here each time we are in town and adore the vibe and quality ingredients cooked in these beautiful dishes. A true gem of a place. Highly recommend to other foodies, but make sure to reserve a table!

This place is a gem! Incredible food, and they'll even work with vegetarians (since most of the menu items are pretty meaty). Great bread, great salads, and outstanding staff. It's not a cheap place to eat, but it's top quality. Totally worth it for a special night out.

This 'trattoria' gets rave reviews, and prices are in line with the reviews. Having lived in Italy, our expectations were somewhat disappointed. (I'd say prices are 'ristorante' while delivery is 'trattoria'. This goes for style as well - wait staff wore casual.) Nothing terrible or terribly wrong for sure, and we enjoyed the evening - just not a five-star dining experience.

After enjoying Funistrada in years past as part of the Glen Arbor magic, this experience was disappointing. Two of the four meals were good but our guests who chose the angel hair carsoni were less than impressed. There was no flavor and the pasta was dry. For the price point, it should have been first class. Not eager to return.

Funistrada is the best kind of local favorite - wonderfully cozy, warm personal service, and a menu with both Italian-style standbys and creative specials. Menu highlights from my visits have included a beautiful veal chop with (lots of!) capers and a pasta with duck and mushrooms in cream sauce. Glorious, rich food. While some specials can be expensive, the pasta dishes often priced very reasonably. But be sure to reserve ahead - the locals adore the place, and it is usually packed every night!

Best lasagna I've ever had, BY FAR!! Every part of it is homemade. Large portion for the price. Off the beaten path but definitely worth the drive. Reservations highly recommended, especially Wednesday and Thursday nights for the off-season specials.

Great local restaurant. Friendly knowledgeable service and wonderful food that never disappoints. Hard to get in during peak season. Reserve in advance.

One of our favorite places in the area. We visit Glen Arbor every two years for our Anniversary and Trattoria is always our Friday night dinner. Can’t wait for our dinner tonight!
